How to Properly Care for Faucets
Like every other fixtures, faucets need to be well taken care of. It is important to clean it well and properly because it is one of the major things people use for vanity.
Below are some things one should be aware of.
- Use mild soap or mild detergent, and water. This is to ensure that after cleaning it, the water coming out of it can be safe for use.
- Dry it using a soft cloth. Make sure to dry it well to avoid water spotting or mineral build up.
- Vinegar and water can be used to remove soap scum or hard water deposits.
- Manufacturers advise people to wax it regularly too, aside from cleaning. Appliance wax aerosol furniture wax and auto paste wax can be used.
- Cleaners with strong chemicals such as abrasives, ammonia, and bleach should not be used as cleaning materials for faucets. The finish can be damaged with these chemicals.
- Products that are tarnish or rust removers should also be avoided as cleaning materials. Products containing chemicals that are hydrofluoric, phosphoric, hydrochloric, and caustic are not suitable for this purpose.
- Toilet cleaners are not suitable for cleaning of faucets. Heavy-duty scrub sponges and scouring pads will damage the finish.
- Mild abrasive cleaners are the last option when trying to remove mineral deposits or stains.
- Those in gold plate should be cleaned with warm water only. Wipe it dry.
